The world is entering a new era in which health has become one of the defining priorities shaping how people live and travel. Increasingly, people are seeking journeys that not only offer leisure and relaxation, but also promote disease prevention, recovery, longevity, emotional wellbeing, and a better quality of life.
In response to this global shift, Thailand Health Excellence 2026 has officially launched under the support of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with leading public and private sector partners, medical institutions, academic organizations, and wellness providers, with the shared vision of positioning Thailand as a Global Health & Healing Destination.
3 Strategic Pillars for Thailand’s Future
Thailand Health Excellence 2026 showcases the country’s strengths through three core pillars:

● Science-Based Local Wisdom
By integrating modern medicine, scientific innovation, Thai wisdom, and tourism, the initiative promotes a comprehensive Health & Healing Ecosystem that spans prevention, treatment, recovery, rehabilitation, and lifelong wellbeing under the guiding concept: “Healing is the New Luxury.”
Introducing 10 Signature Health Journeys
A major highlight of the initiative is the launch of 10 Signature Health Journeys, carefully designed to address the diverse health and wellbeing needs of modern travelers.
These curated experiences range from specialized medical care and post-treatment recovery to preventive wellness, healthy aging, emotional wellbeing, and long-term quality of life enhancement.
Together, they reflect Thailand’s vision of moving beyond conventional health tourism to create meaningful Health & Healing experiences that seamlessly connect treatment, recovery, prevention, and holistic wellbeing.
Thailand’s First Showcase of Science-Based Local Wisdom from Siriraj
The event also introduces the Siriraj Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine (Siriraj Sappaya-sthana for Health Promotion) as a leading example of Science-Based Local Wisdom, demonstrating how evidence-informed Thai traditional medicine can be integrated into modern healthcare and wellness while preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage.
Thailand Debuts “Thailand Surf Therapy – The Wave of Healing”
Another key milestone is the launch of “Thailand Surf Therapy – The Wave of Healing,” Thailand’s first initiative to introduce internationally recognized Surf Therapy concepts into the country’s tourism landscape.
Developed in collaboration with Waves for Change from South Africa, the project applies Science-Based Wellness principles by combining surfing, nature, movement, and positive social connection to support emotional wellbeing and mental health.
With Phang Nga serving as the pilot destination, the initiative marks an important step toward developing innovative wellness tourism experiences inspired by the restorative power of the ocean.
Connecting Thailand to the Global Health & Healing Network
Thailand Health Excellence 2026 also strengthens international collaboration through strategic partnerships that expand market access and enhance convenience for health travelers worldwide.
Key initiatives include:
● Collaboration with Fresenius Medical Care to promote Dialysis-Friendly Long Stay Thailand, supporting dialysis patients who wish to travel and enjoy extended stays in Thailand while maintaining continuity of care.
● Collaboration with Arokago, one of the world’s leading medical tourism platforms, to showcase Thailand’s healthcare and wellness providers to international audiences and enable travelers to search, compare, and connect directly with trusted providers through a world-class digital ecosystem.
